My client approached me about designing a beautiful engagement ring for his intended. During our initial consultation, he realized that there were A LOT of options and he wasn’t quite certain what sort of style she would gravitate to. He wanted the proposal to be a surprise so they hadn’t discussed preferred ring styles and, because his girlfriend didn’t wear a lot of jewellery in general, we did not have much to go on.
I could tell he was getting a little overwhelmed so I suggested he either propose with a loose diamond or that we make a little birthstone ring with which to propose and which she could later switch to the other hand and wear as a keepsake; that way the proposal could still be a spontaneous surprise but the lady could have a say as far as the design of the ring was concerned.
My client decided to do BOTH; he had me make a pretty little blue sapphire ring (her birthstone) as a place holder engagement ring and also selected an absolutely stunning GIA certified 1.5 carat oval cut diamond which would be the centre for the “real” engagement ring. Once it was official, they came in together to discuss the engagement ring design. It was decided that we would make a classic, rose gold, double gallery setting with the oval centre flanked by 2 round accent diamonds.
The ring turned out just beautifully - see it in action below. A timeless design that is simple, elegant and graceful and highlights that gorgeous diamond. Congratulations to another fabulous Hamilton couple!
