Stratford, Ontario couple Michael and Allison approached me while Allison was performing in Hamilton at the Theatre Aquarius (located just around the corner from my jewellery shop). They came in to discuss wedding rings and to see if anything could be done with an old family heirloom. The old ring was an Art Deco style with a three daisy design set with diamonds. It had always been a very delicate ring but was in very bad shape from wear-and-tear: all the prongs were worn and the shank extremely thin and warped. We would either need to do an extensive restoration to the original ring or we could remove the diamonds and reuse them in a completely new ring setting. The couple decided that it was best to make a whole new ring but wished to retain some elements of the original design.
We made a meatier version of the original and included some new details. We also made a matching diamond wedding band with a gentle curve to nicely hug this pretty daisy ring. Old and new came together beautifully to create a NEW future heirloom.
And as dainty and feminine as Allison’s daisy ring is, Michael’s chunky, 8 mm wide white gold band with a hammer finish is quite the opposite for a cool HIS & HERS contrast.
