Throwback to this unique engagement ring / wedding band. This was one of my favourite custom design projects of 2016. The organic, sculptural design was cast in Platinum and paired with an Emerald for an unconventional bride.
As the year draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for making 2015 another fantastic year for Zoran Designs Jewellery. I had the pleasure to meet and get to know some truly wonderful people over the course of the year. Whether it was while working on custom jewellery design projects, during engagement ring or bridal jewellery consultations or simply while serving you in the store and helping you find the perfect gift for the occasion, it's the stories and connections (both in person and online) that make the moments meaningful and memorable. Jewellery marks special occasions and life's milestones (both big and small) and though it is a given for big purchases like engagement rings and wedding bands, smaller items can take on special meaning and sentimental value over the course of years as they become associated with a special person or special moments and ingrained in our memories. When you commission me to design a ring or when you purchase that pair of earrings as a graduation or birthday gift, I feel I am made a part of those special moments in your lives and it is a lovely feeling. So thank you for your new and continued business, for your referrals and of course thank you for letting Zoran Designs play a role in those special moments.
I hope 2015 was a happy and prosperous year for you all and may 2016 be even more so!

PS. We know how much you love jewellery photos so here are some that were featured on our Instagram account over the past couple of months.
As a jewellery designer it is always a pleasure to see your creations again. Especially when they are being worn and loved by their owners. I had just such an experience this weekend; I was reunited with Daisy. I designed this ring several years ago, not as a commissioned piece but because I had a loose pink sapphire that deserved a home. The gem was very pretty with a lovely pink colour and when the flower idea came to mind I thought it was quite fitting. Anyhow, Daisy didn't stay in the store for too long, the combination of pink sapphire centre, pave diamond flower petals and a combination white and rose gold setting were rather fetching. She quickly caught the eye of one of my regular customers. Several visits and a hint-drop-to-hubby later she was gone to her new home. This past weekend I ran into the lovely lady who fell in love with Daisy and was thrilled to see her wearing the ring. She was kind enough to let me take a few creative shots. Here's Daisy in all her glory.
I just love breathing new life into tired, old jewellery. Here is an example of a redesign project where all the diamonds in the new ring had been removed from a set of outdated rings that were not being worn by my client. I designed a completely new and unique ring around her old diamonds for a much more striking effect.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
My clients came in with a collection of old rings. The diamonds were lovely but trapped in outdated settings that were doing nothing to showcase their beauty. For this particular project, my clients were fairly open and did not have any specific predetermined ideas. I drew several sketches for their consideration:
The design that resonated most was this lovely cluster style ring that incorporates some vintage flare with contemporary elements. It turned out beautifully and showcases the diamonds to their full potential.
